When it comes to making content, few methods of marketing are as influential. Marketing is all about getting as many eyes on your content as possible, ensuring as successful of a launch as you can. There are many different methods of doing this, such as traditional, personal, and referral marketing. However, only content marketing will allow you to get as many eyes on your presentation as possible, without having to pay a lot of money. In today's blog post, we will discuss what content marketing is, the different types of content marketing, and things to keep in mind.

What is Content Marketing?

Content marketing is a part of digital marketing. This type of marketing focuses on making content, either video or photographic in nature, to communicate your product or ideas in a way that can be easily understood and digested. This is either easier or harder for marketers, depending on the type of learner you are. Some people prefer content marketing due to its ability to communicate a lot of information quickly, without any effort on the part of the reader. Some people prefer other methods of marketing however, due to content marketing requiring more personalized target marketing, and requiring more effort (especially when designing and implementing videos). Despite your opinion of content marketing, what cannot be disputed is its effectiveness. Every year, content marketing becomes more and more prevalent in everyday life, if you notice it or not.

Types of Content Marketing:

Picture:

Picture marketing is a part of social media marketing. This has a lot to do with coming up with a picture, or a collection of pictures, that communicate what your company, product, or service is all about. Normally, the focus of these pictures is on the company itself, or what the company offers. There are three different focuses of these types of content. The first is to inform. These posts focus on what the product does, and the technical aspects of the product. These posts do not focus on being flashy or catchy, rather relying on the product features to attract customers. The second type are persuasive posts. These posts focus less on the actual offerings and more about persuading customers that their product is better than others by using catchy or flashy tricks in their picture. These type of ads may try and convince you that their product may make you cooler than your peers, or that all of the famous people are using their product. These type of ads focus on the social aspect, of trying to convince you that you are the only person not using their product, rather than focusing on the actual aspect of the product. The last type of picture marketing focuses on establishing their product through recommendations or reviews. These type of ads focus less on being flashy, or describing the product, and focus more on how popular their product was and how the top experts in their field recommend their product. This means their picture is more focused on the qualifications of the expert, and what they have to say, rather than anything else.

Video:

When it comes to marketing, few methods can communicate as many pieces of information as video. You may be very familiar with video marketing, seeing it on TV commercials, ads before YouTube videos, and many other places. Video production, while hard, can make the biggest impact on consumers. While pictures can only be seen, videos can be seen and heard, making more of an impact on the mind of the consumer, and allowing the ad to be seen or heard by more people at the same time. When you think of ads, you can think of at least two or three that you really liked, even if those ads occurred years ago. That is the power of video advertising. Even though those ads were forever ago, and the product may have changed a lot, your opinion on that product is the same, even years later.

Things to keep in mind:

When developing content marketing, if that be pictures, videos, or other content marketing styles we have not mentioned, you need to keep in mind the needs of your business. Is your business big enough that you need to develop a full-on video that is several minutes long? Or can you communicate the same information and reach the same audience with a shorter video or a infographic? If you are do not have an advertising budget, you may consider making a social media post due to its free nature, rather than taking out a loan to run a TV commercial. Different businesses will require different types of marketing at different times, and that's ok. As you grow your business, your opportunities to do different types of content marketing will increase.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, content marketing may take a while to develop, and it may be difficult for some, but it can be one of the most influential type of marketing when done right. No matter what type of business you are in, you can use content marketing in one form or another to allow your business and your advertising to advance to the next level, and attract more potential customers.
